Lifestyle: 3 Ways to Spend Your Weekends

Dear Alice,

Today I would like to talk to you about different ways to spend your weekends. Indeed weekends! And when I say weekends I mean those well deserved days at the end of the week we are all long waiting for. After a week of hard working, intensive studying, long traveling or prolonged house working, all of us are looking forward to the weekend and to those days of relaxation and contemplation.

And as you probably already know it,

we can amuse ourselves in the weekends in a variety of ways: from reading a book, or having some sport activities to meeting a friend, to spending time with your family or to having a spontaneous trip, etc. and etc….Yes definitely a lot of alternatives nowadays, we only need the time and the spirit to pursue them.

In the last couple of weeks, I must say I had the chance to have some long weekends myself, as here in Austria we have a lot of religious holidays in May and this year they happened to occur on that special Thursdays or Mondays. Lucky us! So during these weekends I tried to combine the relaxation with the utility and here are some suggestions of activities that could help you plan your next weekends or even better long weekends :

  1. Invite your friends over to spend some days in your town and make a tour of the city with them. This is a great idea for two main reasons: on the one hand side, you get to catch up with your friends, to make future plans and to have some really thoughtful conversations together; and on the other hand side, you get to refresh your memories on your own city and you get to visit some new places you never had the chance to see before. This will definitely make you appreciate your city even more than you did before. So below are some flashes from one of my last weekends spent with my good friends from Munich.
  2. Spending your time on the construction place. This is an activity that combines the relaxation with the utility. Why? Well if you were or are looking for an apartment you must know what I mean. Usually when looking for a new apartment that is built from scratch you have to visit the construction place so as to make important decisions and to concentrate on the future development of your daily routine that is about to undergo some changes. Morever, on the weekend the construction place is usually empty so you get to spend some time in a quiet place away from the busy city. So you basically get to relax as well.
  3. Taking a hike in the city. Taking a hike is always a fascinating activity! In Graz, you can reach the Mariatrost Basilica either by car or by bus (or tramway). Or of course by foot. In this way, you get to enjoy the scenery and to reflect on your thoughts. Or just enjoy the present moment.
