Travel Guide: Podstrana (Croatia) Best Attractions (I)

Dear Alice,

Today I would like to begin with saying that I am really happy to be back! Due to my holiday traveling plans, I did not manage to stay connected, but now once that I am back again I would like to share with you some of my summer holiday experiences this year.

This year, for my summer holidays, Croatia was the big winner as the main destination!

With beautiful landscapes, one of a kind beaches (even if not sand beaches but pebble beaches), clear (as crystal) blue sea water (where you can definitely swim, bath or snorkel and witness a wonderful variety of colorful fishes and corals), great restaurants with delicious food, Croatia is a unique destination, which offers you everything you have ever wanted for a summer holiday: relaxation, sport activities, and amazing landscapes!

The first stop in Croatia was Podstrana! Here are some points about Podstrana and my holiday in Podstrana that caught up my attention in a very special way:

  • Situated in the south of Split, Podstrana is definitely a beautiful resort in Croatia with a variety of pebble beaches, where you can simply enjoy swimming and the sun, or you can choose to practice different water sport activities. I really enjoyed this resort stretching on about 9 km on the Croatian coast, since it is very different from any other Croatian resort I visited before: even though a touristic place, Podstrana still kept a lot of its traditional Croatian character, and this turns it from my point of view into a fairy-tale destination.
  • There are many, many seagulls in Podstrana. This aspect really draw my attention from the beginning, but I did not really understand the reasons behind it, until our kayaking guide (yes in a later post we will also discuss about my amazing kayaking experience) explained us why: the river Zrnovnica meets the sea exactly in this place, and so the environmental conditions are perfect for the seagulls: they can survive and they can feed themselves in this special habitat as any other living beings. Nature is indeed a gift for all living beings.
  • There is a variety of good restaurants in Podstrana, where the food is delicious and the atmosphere is unforgettable. About this, again in a later post.
  • The landscapes are unique, they are the perfect mixture between sea and mountain landscapes, a mixture you can enjoy over and over again. We had a beautiful view from our apartment on Podstrana, a view I enjoyed so much both during the day as in the evening.
  • So here are some pieces of Podstrana in the pictures below. Did you already visit it 🙂 ?

Sincerely yours,
Madalina
