Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle

Dear Alice,

Here are some tips for a healthy lifestyle, that you can practice every now and then, and that I hope will come in handy for you.

  1. “Water-Day”: Drink only water (or water with lemon for instance) for one day during the week. You can also have tee and/or coffee (without milk and/or sugar or honey) if you feel like it, but try to eliminate any sweetened drinks and alcohol from your diet.

Water is always my best friend.

  2. “Sport-Day”: Do sport activities for one day during the week for at least 15 minutes, and then try to increase the time interval to 30 minutes, and even to 60 minutes per day. Progressively you can start doing sport activities for like 2, 3, 4, or even 5 days a week if you feel like it and if this fits your schedule and your metabolism. Just keep in mind: your should take things slowly and once at a time, especially if your are not a trained athlete.

  3. “No-TV Day”: Try to have one day per week without watching any TV (and this means, watching no movies, no series, no shows, no news or no other shows and/or programs of any kind). This one could be a hard one, but not unattainable for sure.
  4. “No-Internet Day”: Try to have one day per week without using the internet. This one is for sure also a hard one, especially if you have to use the internet for work for instance. So probably you can try this day during the weekend or during the holidays. Still one day per week is not that much if you think about it. Alternatively you can set some boundaries for a day: for instance for one day, you can decide to spend only 3 or let’s say 4 hours on the internet. This alternative is a compromise, and this especially if you really have to use the internet during the day at all costs.
  5. “Plants Day”: Usually during spring or summer, try to buy a new plant per week, to either have it in your apartment or on your terrace (or balcony). Plants are human’s best friends and they are definitely a source of positive energy.

  6. “Meditation Day:” Try to have one meditation day during the week, when you dedicate at least 5 minutes during the day to meditate on the present moment and to concentrate on your inner peace. You can also increase the interval time here to 10, 15, 20 minutes or more as this fits better for you.
  7. “Reading Day:” Try to have one day per week, when you are basically only reading a book that you like, either a fiction book, a narrative book, a science fiction book, or a study that you wanted to read for months but you did not get the time to read.
  8. “Home-Cooking Day:” Try to have one day per week when you cook all the meals for your family starting with breakfast, continuing with lunch and ending with dinner. Of course you do not have to bake the bread as well (even though with the kitchen machines nowadays you can make wonders), but most of the meals that you serve should be home-made by you with and for your family.
  9. “Farmers-Market Day”: Go to the farmers-market for one day during the week and buy farmers products starting with bread and ending with butter, eggs and bio vegetables. This is basically a win-win situation for you and for the farmers 🙂 .

These are some simple tips that you can easily apply in your every day life and that I hope will improve your every day routine and activities. As noticed, I try to exercise even during our hiking trips when I get the chance to. Also another healthy lifestyle tip.
