Travel Guide: Trieste, Italy

Dear Alice,

Today I would like to present you with another useful travel guide of the beautiful city of Trieste in Italy. Situated at the Adriatic Coast, Trieste will definitely take your breath away and will make you want to come back once you visited once. It is that kind of place where you will always find new and challenging things to explore.

Best Time To Visit.

I definitely think that the best time to visit Trieste is during late Autumn, and that is somewhere in the end of September and middle of October. More precisely it would be one of my recommendation to visit the city during the Trieste Barcolana Regatta, which is an annual boat competition on the Mediterranean Sea. Here some further details if you want to know more about this event. It may be that I am very subjective here with my recommendation, since I visited the city during the Trieste Barcolana Regatta and it was just lovely, so I would definitely want to come back to enjoy the adventurous and the traditional facets of the city during this time of the year. And don’t be afraid of the crowds. I am myself a tourist that does not enjoy the very crowded places, but the atmosphere during the Trieste Barcolana Regatta is one you will not forget (especially if you are into sailing a bit also).

Cost and Expenses.

I would say Trieste is not a very expensive city, but still it is a tourist location so you probably want to save some finances before planning a visit here. You probably would need to invest more in the accommodation, but if you plan your visit in advance, then you could definitely find some good offers and deals for you and your friends or family on booking.com. For the food, you will find a very wide variety of delicious dishes, starting from fish and sea food until meat and vegetarian dishes. Everything your heart desires I would say. I would recommend here to make sure to visit some recommendations of restaurants from trip advisor or something similar, so as not to arrive in the most touristic places, where the prices are definitely a bit higher as in the normal places, as is the situation in the most touristic places.

Best Things to Do in Trieste.

Just let your mind be free and do not be afraid to explore every little part of the city. I sometimes like this as a tourist, to not follow a plan and just go with the flow, enjoying the city, relaxing and contemplating the beauty of a new city location. Still if you would want some recommendations about the city here are some main attractions that I would recommend in Trieste.

  1. Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia, the oldest place in Trieste, it is the main square in the city facing the harbor. You will definitely enjoy here the architecture and the wonderful landscapes on the harbor.

2. San Giusto Castle, this is a beautiful castle situated up on the hill in the city, that will transpose you in another dimension. The whole architecture and the buildings will remind you of the medieval times and will offer you some wonderful landscapes on the city of Trieste and on the Adriatic sea.

3. San Giusto Cathedral, a beautiful cathedral, that I definitely recommend to visit also on the inside, you will be mesmerized by the beautiful insights.

4. Roman Theater, situated in the middle of the city, the Roman Theater is wonderfully well-preserved and will offer you a great panorama on the Roman architectures.

5. Harbor, wonderful landscapes to enjoy and beautiful ships to admire while in the harbor, so do not miss this location while in Trieste.

I hope I convince you to give Trieste a try and to enjoy its wonders and its beautiful company. Till our next encounter, stay healthy, be happy and be compassionate.

Sincerely yours,
Madalina
