Austria’s Best Attractions: Welcome to Rogner Bad Blumau

Today I would like to talk to you about my visit to the wonderful Rogner Bad Blumau Spa. As any of us, each year in January I get one year “wiser” and I get to celebrate my birthday together with my family and my friends. It’s mostly a time of celebration, when both enjoyment and gratitude take over! I am sure you know the feeling, when you think about your last birthday celebration.
This year the celebration was a special one, since before the usual yearly celebration, I got to spend some wonderful days in Rogner Bad Blumau Spa! It was not my first visit to Bad Blumau Spa, but it was definitely my first visit to the Rogner Bad Blumau Hotel.
I will start with the beginning and tell you that Rogner Bad Blumau (“Bad” means “Bath” in German) is a spa located in Styria, not far away from Graz. Rogner Bad Blumau (together with the hotel area itself) is built on several hot natural water springs, which of course have several curative effects as any other natural spring in the region. The whole place was designed by the Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser and I must say that the construction is impressive and it basically leaves a lot of place to the imagination:
- the whole buildings are constructed directly into the landscape, so your thoughts wonder very fast to the popular “Shire” from the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy 🙂 ;
- everything in the area is rounded, colored and vaulted (even the floors, so you better watch out your steps 😉 ), these features being in fact the signature of the Hundertwasser artist;
- the Vulkania hot spring is transformed into a magical outdoor pool, that one can enjoy until late in the evening (i.e. 23:00 o’clock). So you can appreciate the outdoor pool with water of up to 38 degree Celsius, while calmly observing the snowy surroundings. After 17:00 o’clock the fires are lighted up in the outdoor area, and thus one feels him/herself nearby a real volcano anyway. And I almost forgot: in Vulkania one can also enjoy the underwater music! That’s one of my favorites 😀 !
- Another practical thing about Bad Blumau is that you can decide to take only evening cards (available between 17:00-23:00 o’clock), but one has to reserve them in advance. This is of course available for the hotel area as well.
- the place is full with other outdoors and indoors pools, Jacuzzi and sauna areas, which bring even more relaxation to your day;
- one can have breakfast (and even dinner) in a special restaurant area, where you can basically go in bathrobe. There’s nothing else I could ask for from a relaxing day in a spa!
- one can even enjoy several massages and treatments! This time I tried the beauty body care massage, which consisted of an oil pack in a floating bed for dry and stressed skin. I would definitely try this again!
- I would say that the whole place offers you an unforgettable journey into a world of relaxation and calmness. And is the best place for that time for two!
All in all, this was a unique experience! I totally encourage you to try it, it’s definitely worth the try. And let me know your impressions!
